After a five-day trial in federal court, a man from Omaha, Nebraska, and his partner in Sioux City were convicted on multiple charges for mailing fentanyl pills over state lines. Aki Awou, 33, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and two counts of possession with intent to distribute. His partner, Karem Bol, 20, pleaded guilty to several charges, including conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possession of firearms. The duo disguised fentanyl as oxycodone and mailed thousands of pills from Arizona to Sioux City.
The conviction followed a joint operation involving local police, postal inspectors, and federal agencies. Both individuals face significant prison sentences, fines, and supervised release.
