The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has issued a plea for public assistance in locating Joyce Ellen Harwood, a 79-year-old woman from Runnells. Authorities received a call on Wednesday night at around 8 p.m. reporting her disappearance since just after 3 p.m. that day. Harwood, who suffers from dementia and may become confused, was last seen in the 9700 block of S.E. 48th Avenue. She left her residence to get a drink and has not returned. Harwood drives a blue 2010 Ford Escape with Iowa license plate JSL375. She has medium-length gray hair, and her last known attire includes a pink sweatshirt with “Branson” written on it and dark-colored capri pants.
