An Iowa man, formerly the owner of a commercial dog breeding facility, has been arrested in connection with an animal neglect case dating back to August 2023.

The arrest comes after Iowa City Animal Services, in collaboration with law enforcement, took in 131 dogs from the 3000 block of 540th Street SW in Riverside. Physical exams revealed conditions attributed to a lack of proper care.

The owner, Loren Yoder, voluntarily surrendered his commercial breeding license following the welfare inspection. Yoder now faces charges, including 5 counts of Animal Neglect (717.B3(4)) and 36 counts of Animal Neglect (717B.3(3)).
