A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, October 29, around 2:00 a.m. Davenport Police officers observed a Chevy Impala recklessly speeding through the downtown area. Attempts to pull over the vehicle near 7th and Division Streets were in vain as the driver, an adult male, opted to flee.

At 2:06 a.m., the vehicle continued to speed eastbound, eventually leaving the roadway and colliding with a building at 601 West 2nd Street. Tragically, the driver was transported to a local hospital by Medic EMS but was later pronounced dead. The adult female passenger succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
