Keokuk County, Iowa – A concerned local resident who witnessed a recent hayride crash in Keokuk County is calling it an incident marked by negligence and ignorance. The accident, which occurred on October 14 near What Cheer, involved a hayride with middle-school-aged kids, leading to injuries and hospitalizations for some. An employee of the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is underway.

Reanna Robb, a University of Iowa student, had returned to her hometown to participate as a scare actor for a haunted house and the ill-fated hayride. Robb was waiting in her costume in a nearby cemetery when the crash happened.

Parents in Keokuk County revealed that the ride was carrying dozens of 7th graders from Sigourney, although it was not a school-sanctioned event but rather organized by a group of parents.

Robb, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash, highlighted that alcohol consumption was prevalent among adults and organizers present that night. She expressed distress over the incident and the need for answers and accountability. Robb emphasized the importance of holding individuals responsible, even in tight-knit communities where such actions may affect reputations and friendships.
